phish bassist beaten up by hell's agels

Phish bassist, Mike Gordon, was arrested for taking a 9-year-old girl to a boathouse early one morning. He was arrested for endangering a child's welfare and for trespassing. His defense was that he was snapping "art photos" of the girl. The parents, originally terrified and distraught over their missing child, have since dropped the charges against Gordon, saying that the entire ordeal was a big misunderstanding. Interestingly, the article notes that members of motorcycle gang, the Hell's Angels, arrived at the boathouse before police did and "exacted an unspecified punishment" on Gordon for what he was doing with the girl. It's not clear from the article whether his actions with the girl were benign or not, but apparently, there was enough confusion and worries to merit the Hell's Angels to violentally assault Gordon for what everyone probably believed was Gordon molesting the girl, in some fashion.

Leaves a lot to the imagination, doesn't it? "Art photos" and "unspecified punishment", hmmm...

I promise you, if someone took my daughter for "art pictures" and I had no idea where she was or what was going on- I wouldn't be letting him "off the hook" as the article says. I'd be delivering my own "unspecified punishment". (sorry for all the quotations... I got a bit riled!)

Makes you wonder if their was a financial inducement to make the charges "go away".

I tend to wonder whether Gordon will be able to "father children" after his Hell's Angels encounter.

There should be more of this kind of thing. E.g., if there is a known wife-beater in town, the men of the town should get together and give him a taste of his own medicine until he stops.

I would be in favor of it being the Elders in town, instead of just some men. Makes the judgment more specific.

That's why all elders ought to be issued a Louisville Slugger at ordination. ;)

I don't know mike gordon the man. but I know his work with the band Phish. I consider it to be full of joy and wonder. If you get a chance to watch a documentary on the band called "bittersweet motel" you might get the same feeling that I did. That of four intelligent, kind, and talented individuals. The kind that wouldn't molest a little girl. It was a judgment error to go off alone for sure. However, Jesus probably would have done it.
