There is significant paranoia among the Arabians interviewed. So many of them believe that the United States will now target them, and attempt to destroy their countries the way we destroyed Saddam's Iraq. Either I'm deluded, and cannot seem the big picture of this, or there is significant information assymetries between the West and the Middle East.
It reminds me of a movie that they show down at the D-Day Museum in New Orleans about the Pacific invasion during World War II. Japanese propoganda was heavily circulated during the invasion. The Japanese civiliaions were told that the Americans were cannibals, and that if captured, they would eat the small children of family's. Home video was shown of a screaming, hysterical Asian woman, running towards a cliff with her infant child. The woman then threw the child over the very, very steep cliff. The baby was killed in the fall, undoubtedly, when she hit the rocks far below. All because this woman was told that the American soldiers would eat her child.
