Jeff Meyers on The Passion

Jeffrey Meyers shares his thoughts on The Passion. Now we just need Mesh to hurry up and post.

It kind of occurred to me this morning just how great blogging really was. The reviews I've been reading from regular old joe's who have seen the film are as good as most of the film critics out there. I suppose I knew this already, but it occured to me how so many of the barriers to entry that exist for opening a newspaper or a television station disappear with the Internet. There are no sunk costs, essentially, for a blog. And if one is a good blogger, with quality information regularly updated, then people will find you. Andrew Sullivan, Instapundit - these two fellas end up with a huge amount of traffic daily. There's very little overhead to blogging (and since most people just use their office computer or their home computer, then there's no additional overhead). The only costs, ultimately, are the opportunity costs. In my case, those tend to be high, since every minute I'm writing on here is a minute I'm not studying, not spending time with Paige nor with Miles. That's the constant battle, one I'm usually net negative in winning. Still, if you have the interest, the Internet's made it so much easier for pundits, film critics, journalists, to test their wings.

Give me another half an hour. :)

I've had to go through a lot of conversations -- gosh, I don't think five minutes goes by without someone asking me what I thought -- to come to some clear opinions. I just hope I can avoid sounding biased against Catholics, because a lot of my concerns have to do with Gibson's Traditionalist influences.

If it helps justify your investment, I for one am glad you're in this biz.
